There is much more to being found online than just a nice site and WordPress Plugins are an integral part of this equation

Although Web Design and SEO are not typically part of our IT support, many of my customers have asked for help doing a web design or fixing their SEO problems after a designer has made them a beautiful design. Below are a list of some of my favorite plugins that have made maintaining my site and increasing my google web authority on our own.

1. Easy Columns.  This plugin is great for making columns. With responsive sites you can no longer create grids because they do not resize well. Easy columns allows you to insert a short code to easily do multiple column configurations.
2. Yoast SEO.  You want to increase your SEO with out paying a consultant? This is the greatest tool you can use. It is simple to install, they have a ton of great best practices on how to get started. You can do a little at a time as there are many layers to SEO.
3. Google Analytics Dashboard for WP. this plug in allows you to authenticate into your Google Analytics account and have your report show up in your dashboard. this will make it simple for you to track you site traffic without having to go to google also.
4. Author Sure. This plug in is not necessary but it will link the content your WP-user has created with your google+ person. When your posts show up in google they will be linked to your google+ account.
5. UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore This is a simple solution to take backups locally, or backup to Amazon S3, Dropbox, Google Drive, Rackspace, (S)FTP, WebDAV & email, on automatic schedules. I personally tell it to keep 12 weekly backups.
6. SEOReviewTools.com. OK I know it is not a plugin but I use it all of the time. you can check your sites web authority and check how you rank compared to your competition, check for duplicate content, find out who is linking to your site, get keyword suggestions, check for site errors and more.
