windows 10 upgradeAll good things must come to an end, and with Microsoft there is no exception. The free offer to Windows10 Upgrade Offer ends July 29th. If you haven’t made the leap yet, here are three things to know.

  1. The offer officially ends July 29th and will not be extended
  2. All upgrades before that date are valid for the life of the device
  3. January 2020 ends the support for Windows 7

ZDNet reports: After nearly a year, Microsoft says a total of 300 million devices are running Windows 10. Many of those, perhaps one-third or more, represent new PCs. Another big chunk represents newer devices originally sold with Windows 8 or 8.1. According to the U.S. Government’s Digital Analytics Program, the percentage of Windows PCs running on Windows 7 is less than 60 percent at the end of May 2016.

Win 7 was a great OS, but there are some vital reasons Microsoft wants to get everyone updated to the latest version of the software. Security tops that list, but there’s also the challenge of supporting thousands of different types of computers across different operating systems written years and years ago. Why not upgrade to this faster, smoother system? Compatibility tops that list and if you’re a large business who’s IT department is telling you “no”, you best listen.

Are you one of the 60 percent and still unconvinced by the free offer? Are there questions, such as hardware and software compatibility holding you back? Does your business have too many computers to upgrade making the entire process overwhelming? If you answered yes to any of these or have your own questions, you should be calling Future Link IT. As technology experts it is their job to evaluate the offer and compare it to your situation then provide a solid analysis and recommendation. Time is running out quickly so making a call to FLI could save you money and headaches!
